What is minimal waste?
The aim is to reduce textile waste during product manufacturing, starting with the design stage. Products are designed and made using a pattern template and not solely based on a drawing.
This means that pattern-making is a key part of the design process. We make sure that the different pieces of the product fit together perfectly like a puzzle on the pattern template to generate minimal waste.
Why adopt a minimal waste design approach?
Between 15% and 20% of textiles used for clothing end up as fabric offcuts. Wasted textiles mean wasted resources. It is vital that we tackle the problem at the source by maximising our use of textiles, by minimising waste, and by generating as little fabric waste as possible during the product manufacturing process.
For this product, we have gone from 19% to 9% waste.
Product testing
When we design our products, we select fabrics and inks that are not harmful to children, and accessories (buttons, etc.) that cannot be swallowed. We make sure our fabrics are not toxic if put in your child's mouth. As well as these standards, we consider your child's safety when designing every aspect of our products. These little details make all the difference!
Child development
We design our products with the support of a physiotherapist to understand how we can make kids more autonomous through our clothing. "The challenge is to prevent kids from becoming discouraged. You need to give them actions that they can see are possible so that they'll repeat them until they become automatic and something they can use more generally," explains Agathe, our partner physiotherapist
Helping kids achieve their aim of dressing themselves
How do we help them out? With easy-to-close zips, a wide neck so they can get dressed on their own without being stuck in their jumper, visual markers so they get their clothing the right way around, and more! Thanks to this little helping hand, your child will gradually get to grips with dressing themselves like the big kids.
What to wear for kids' activities
To keep them comfy as they move around, your child can count on Domyos' product range: T-shirts, jogging bottoms, leggings and zipped sweatshirts! The aim is for them to be comfortable without having to pull their bottoms up or their T-shirt down all the time. The technical features vary depending on your child's level.
